Polar introduces the refreshed CS500+ for ambitious cyclists

2011/08/31

Kempele, Finland – 31st. August, 2011 – Polar, the market leader and pioneer in heart rate training technology, is leading the way with the updated CS500+ cycling computer. Compared to the CS500, this refreshed version comes with an extended memory capacity that allows you to store more hours of highly accurate power data from the compatible Kéo Power pedals (available Q1/2011). With a unique rocker switch operation, oversized display and reliable bike mount, the CS500+ allows effortless operation even at high speeds.

Pro cyclists have relied on Polar products for decades to get first-class guidance in their training for Grand Tours. The Polar CS500+ contains a wide range of features that can coach you to better results, combining personal body information with versatile cycling data. By measuring your speed, distance and heart rate, you will know you are cycling at the right intensity and can see how many calories you are burning on your rides.

The memory capacity of the CS500+ has been doubled compared to the previous release of the CS500. If the product is used with a compatible power measurement accessory, the memory recording rate is automatically set to 1 second to ensure the most accurate cycling data possible. You can measure power output and cadence with your CS500+ by adding Polar LOOK Kéo Power, the world’s first pedal based power system.

After the ride, you can transfer your training files with the compatible Polar DataLink to analyze your session in detail at polarpersonaltrainer.com. Its Training Load feature can now be seen as a graph, showing your cumulative training load in color coding. The easy-to-understand graph tells you when you will have recovered enough for your next ride and accurately predicts how your cumulative training load will develop based on your training plan. This will prevent you from over training and enable you to tailor your training sessions accordingly. You can also share your rides online with your Facebook friends by using the share button on the training session overview.

The oversized display guarantees clearly visible training information in all conditions, therefore improving your safety. It allows more data on the screen and includes a flat lens that minimizes disturbing reflections in direct sunlight. Even at high speeds, the CS500+ is effortless to control via the two-way rocker switch that makes it easier and safer to navigate through training data. The advanced double pivot gives an extremely light button push as you can operate your cycling computer by gently touching the left or right side of the handlebar unit.

Made of extra reinforced composite, the CS500+ attaches to the Dual Lock Bike Mount, the most durable and advanced on the market. Easy to install, it can be mounted on the stem or handlebar. The bike mount’s engineered metal parts guarantee sturdy attachment for the cycling computer, making it ideal for both road and mountain biking.

The CS500+ includes the reliable 2.4 GHz W.I.N.D. technology that guarantees disturbance-free data communication and gives a longer range, which offers multiple assembly possibilities. In addition, the individually coded heart rate transmission prevents cross-talk between cycling computers, so you can be sure the CS500+ picks up your heart rate and not someone else’s in the pack.

“Ambitious cyclists have high standards for their cycling gear,” said Joona Laukka, Cycling, Running & Multisport Segment Manager for Polar Electro Oy. “They demand impeccable functionality, ease-of-use, good visibility of their training data – especially at high speeds – and the best possible support in their top level training. You can get all that and more with the CS500+.”

On sale through authorized Polar retailers from September 2011, the CS500+ will be available with the CS speed sensor W.I.N.D. and Dual Lock Bike Mount or in a more extensive set with the CS cadence sensor W.I.N.D. as well. Both sets include the comfortable WearLink+ transmitter W.I.N.D. and a getting started guide. Polar DataLink, CS cadence sensor W.I.N.D. and Polar LOOK Kéo Power pedals can be purchased separately as accessories starting Q1/2011.
